Its been two days since I left from Mainz, Germany, and I miss it already even though I was only there for like three and a half days.

On the first day, friday, I took the train out and then my uncle and cousin picked me up from the train station and then we went back to their house and just straight out chilled. We talked, watched movies, did some grocery shopping and caught up on things.

On saturday we just went to town, ate, shopped around and then came back to the apartment and had a nice feast.

When we were walking in town I took this picture of this cool outdoor statue devoted to Jesus on the cross.

On sunday we went to Heidelberg, a old city near by. It only took like one hour on the autobahn and it was like 96 km away from their apartment!

When we got to Heidelberg we went for a cafe and cake. German cakes are soooooooooooooooo good!

As soon as you step out the cafe you can see the view of the castle!

This is me and my cousin Florian, he's fourteen but is taller than me, sucks because last year when I saw him I was still taller than him. Im shrinking!!!!!! And the other one is me attempting to look taller than him but really all im doing is standing on the fountain step.

After we took a few pics, I had the choice of either going up to the castle or walking around town. What do you think I chose? Duh of course I wanted to go up to the castle! Its not every day you get to go into a castle!!!

This is the view from the castle, it was amazing! You could see the whole town.

This is the remains of the castle.

Picture of me atop the tower with the backdrop of the city.

And this is me with the family.

Inside the castle there was a huge wine barrel which can hold 221.726 liters!!

This is me just at the base of the barrel,  it was seriously humongous!

Then there was a smaller one but equally huge!

This was me pretending to push a wheel, I dont actually know what it was for.

After we went into the pharmancy museum and I saw a big beaker full of drugs and had to take a picture.

And this was the way out of the castle.

On monday we went shopping again and then I hopped back onto the train.

Now Im back in Paris and back to work, I miss Germany! I cant wait to travel around! A bien tot mes amis!

So I havent updated for a while and now that Im back from a little vacation (not really a vacation but whatever) I thought I should post the stuff I did this past month and some pictures go to with it.

A couple of night after I went to see Napoleon there was this thing called Nuit Blanche where there had these special things around the city and everything was open super late. So of course I went out!! Was out until around 2 am. I went to the louvre for freeeee!!

The first thing we did was this candy throwing thing. I thought they were soft candy but they were actually really hard and when people threw them up in the air they hurt whent they landed on you but oh well it was fun. It was like hard silver snow! I got so many candies down my shirt cause it was a v-neck!

This is me and Constance's friend trying to throw candy

Not only did they have candy throwing but they also illuminated some of the monuments in blue! It was really cool to see

And I dont know why but this obelisk reminds me of a light saber

So after that night out it consisted of a whole day of rest.

For thanksgiving (because they do not celebrate it here) I went a Canadian bar for a traditional dinner and found a place to watch hockey games! So happyyy!

Next up was La Villette, an interactive science museum. Think Science World but 30 times bigger and better! They had this really cool exibit about shadows so I took a photo of my shadow.

Can you guess which one is me?

And the most recent adventure was out of Paris to Arcachon, a beach city in the South near Bordeaux. It was so beautiful there, I didnt want to leave. The first four days we were there it was so hot and nice, I even tanned a little. Where we actually were was in the Bassin D'Arcachon but if you cross the Bassin to Cap Ferret you can look right out at the Atlantic Ocean. It was so gorgeous!

This is the beach, straight ahead you can see La Dune de Pyla which is one of the biggest dune in Europe and maybe the world too. Its 117 metres high!

Me dipping my feet in the Bassin, it was warm

So we took the boat accross the Bassin to get to Cap Ferret.

hahah such an ugly face, the wind was blowing in our faces.

Got my tan on and here is the ocean,

the next day we went to La Dune

ITS SOO BIG and yes I climbed it!!! We climbed it from the bottom (the beach) to the top!

There was the most beautiful valley of trees on the other side of La Dune

It had the most incredible view

Me and Antonin at the top of  La Dune

Me at the top of La Dune, you have no idea how tired I was climbing the dune because there are no stairs on the side we went up, it was straight up climbing a hill of sand!

The view towards the ocean

I dont know why but this picture makes me feel so insignificant in the world...

So after the climb back down we jumped into the water to cool off cause it was like 26 degrees

This is me on the last day,

We practically biked everywhere in the city and it was nice because it really lets you soak up your surroundings plus they discourage driving in the city since you can pretty much go everywhere there on bike. It was such an awesome place, I was so sad to leave.

A week and a bit of sun over and now Im back in Paris.

Next up (next weekend) for adventures..................... Mainz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSS Im so excited to be going to Germany, even if its just for the weekend!

NAPOLEON......

Bonarparte!

The other day I went to Les Invalides. Les Invalides was made as a home and hospital for aged and unwell soldiers: the name is a shortened form of hôpital des invalides, the hospital for invalids. But is now the resting place of many of Frances war heroes and of course Napoleon!

uhh yeah...so thats not even how big it is, this is just the church where napoloeon crypt is! ITS SO BIG....for someone who was only 5"2!

so this is the courtyard behing the dome church, it took me like 45 to walk all the way around! Whats so cool about the courtyard is that (you cant really see it in this picture but...) along the edges of the courtyards are old cannons used during wars and what not. And beside each cannon is the year and where they were used.

And these two pictures are Napoleon, well what remains of him. What so amazing is that is stands over 5 meters tall and has 5 different casings inside.

Above the crypt is the gorgeous Dome which was painted with actual gold!

I stood there starring up at the ceiling for so long that my neck started to hurt!

Whats also cool about Les Invalides is that it houses a War musuem.

here are some various guns used during WWI and WWII

here are the standard uniforms from WWI I think, or might have been before the great wars..I cant remember

these are original uniforms from what people had to wear at concentration camp. There were some pretty horrific pictures...I could barely look at them without my eyes starting to tear up because its amazing to see what horrible things people are capable of and to see what people were put through back then

This is a camando car, I wanted to sit in it but it says to not touch and unlike at Sacre Coeur I didnt want to get in trouble because there were people from the military academy walking around....a little bit more frightening then a priest

And this I founjd especially rad, this was an old U.S. Army package/rations! SOOO cool!!

and this is me watching a movie on the wars, dont i look like an idiot?! haha oh yea so I shed my vancouver look and now have a nice french hair cut! If only i had the clothes to match...

Are you allowed to smile in the cemetery?

Oh well... cause I did

but then I got scared

HAHAHA such an ugly face!!! But I thought Id share it anyways!!

I went to the cemetery today and was amazed at how ornate some of the graves were...my favorite one was this one

So cool looking with the autumn leaves.

There were also a lot of black cats lounging on some graves and it kind of freaked me out. And when I was walking i didnt even notice one of them and accidentily kicked it!! I hope I dont go to hell for enjoying the cemetery and kicking a black cat!! yikes...

Thursday, September 21, 2006

So today was a really sunny day and decided that i would go for a three hour walk. Walked around my neighborhood and what not. But after that I thought maybe I should walk up 100 + stairs to get to Sacre Coeur (a really nice church built after the Franco-Prussian War dedicated to Christ's Sacred Heart.) It was so worth it....

so these arent even a quarter of the stairs to get up there, maybe i lied a little.

It was more like 300+

not even at the top yet, this is just the second stage with a lovely view of the city.

ok thats the church...but i just realized it is not straight

This is the entrance, tried my best to get the two horsemen.

This is the view from behind the church at some park.

So after walking around the church for almost an hour, I went inside...

I did a tour of the church and lit a candle. I then just decided to sit down in the church a take in the setting.

I really wanted to take a picture but pictures are not allowed!!!

But if you know me, you know that wouldnt stop me, so what did I do... I took one!

Thats the mural of Jesus and his Sacred Heart.

So after sitting there for about 15 mins I went back outside and made my way back doan the 300+ stairs and by the end of it I just wanted to ride this...

But oh well I didnt because I didnt want to look like a fool because I was alone.

While I was standing there starring at the Carousel, I realized that I am alone!!! I mean I knew it before but didnt want to admit it and now I can. I just hope I can last a year...
